在国家自然科学基金委支持下，中心参与的日本超级神冈中微子实验电子学系统升级工作，于2008年9月6日已全面完成。 在近两年的升级准备工作中，中心博士后林延畅，研究生张海兵与衡阳圆满完成了新电子学的测试平台搭建、测试与安装工作。 张海兵同学还完成了实验在线事例显示的软件编写任务，用于全天24小时的快速实时事例显示 （下载附图：宇宙线粒子进入盛有5万吨水的探测器发出期伦科夫光的情形）。 衡阳同学目前正在进行新电子学条件下的时间漂移修正工作，以便开展后续的中微子反应的事例重建与物理分析工作。
	2008年8月19日，高能物理中心博士后王喆与陈少敏教授参与的稀有K衰变实验E949发表了最新结果， (e-print arXiv:0808.2459) : 在实验已经发现了三个事例的基础上又找到了三个新事例。 理论上一般认为稀有K衰变具有比较干净的研究环境，任何实验观测与理论的明显偏离对发现新的物理具有非常重要的意义。 新结果BR=1.73^{+1.15}_{-1.05}x10^{-10}, 而目前标准模型预言值为0.85+/-0.07 x10-10. 中心值的偏离到底是统计涨落造成的还是实际物理上的偏离，仍需要在实验上加大统计量来验证。 由于该衰变模式是在海量本底中寻找及其微弱的信号，因此，研究难度很大，数据分析工作从2004年开始一直持续了近四年。 具体内容详见网页 http://www.phy.bnl.gov/e949/.

	2008年1月28日至2月10日我中心博士后王小斌分别于印度孟买和Jaipur参加了 "STAR合作组2008年组会" : 和"第20届相对论核-核碰撞国际会议(Quark Matter 2008)". 并在QM08会议上做题为 "Hyperon Production in Cu+Cu Collisions at sqrt(s_NN)=200GeV from STAR Experiment" 的分会报告(for STAR collaboration).

	6月28日，工程物理系本科毕业生综合论文训练答辩完毕，近代物理所衡阳同学获得第一名， 其论文题目为“宇宙线中的MUON粒子寿命测量实验”。
