VISA INFORMATION
FOR INTERNATIONAL VISITORS
While planning a trip to China, the visa topic always comes first and seriously. Please check with Chinese embassies in your countries or the Chinese Visa Application Service Center (CVASC) (https://www.visaforchina.org/) that serves your residence area for your visa application details at your earliest convenience.
We have compiled resources to assist international attendees in the process of obtaining a visa, and while we make every attempt to keep this page up-to-date, please note that regulations may change.
To avoid any travel delays and disruptions, we recommend that all travelers read and follow the instructions in the guidance issued by the official websites of Chinese embassies in your countries carefully.
1. UNILATERAL VISA-FREE POLICY
Countries currently eligible for unilateral visa-free policy: Brunei, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Holland, Malaysia, Switzerland, Ireland, Hungary, Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg, New Zealand, Australia, Poland, Portugal, Greece, Cyprus, Slovenia, Slovakia, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Iceland, Andorra, Monaco, Liechtenstein, Korea, Bulgaria, Romania, Croatia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Malta, Estonia, Latvia, and Japan.
From November 30, 2024 to December 31, 2025, valid ordinary passport holders from above 38 countries can be exempted from Visa to enter China and stay for no more than 30 days for business, tourism, family visit, exchange visit and transit purposes. Foreign nationals eligible for a visa waiver do not need to declare in advance to Chinese embassies and consulates before entering China without a visa.
IMPORTANT: China's 240 hours visa-free transit DOES NOT apply to Xichang
Xichang is NOT within the allowed areas for visa-free transit travelers. As a result, you have to apply L visa or F visa, if you do not hold passports from above 38 countries exempted from Chinese Visa.
2. L visa and F visa
Other international participants may need a Chinese visa to enter China.
Generally, a tourist visa (L visa) should be sufficient for your attendance to the conference, and may not require an invitation letter. However, if you need or must apply for a business visa (F visa), you may need a conference invitation letter.
To obtain a conference invitation letter, please fill in your personal information when registering (included in the registration form). We will contact our Foreign Affairs Office to apply for a visa application letter for you.
If you encounter any problems or difficulties in obtaining the visa and require an official invitation letter from the authorized unit, please contact us at taup2025@tsinghua.edu.cn and provide the following necessary information:

TRANSPORTATION INFORMATION
This section provides recommendations for routes from various transportation hubs to our conference venue, the Xichang Qionghai Hotel (西昌邛海宾馆).
1. TRAVALING TO XICHANG(西昌)
XICHANG QINGSHAN AIRPORT(西昌青山机场)
Xichang Qingshan Airport is a domestic airport. To reach Xichang, you will typically first fly to a major city such as Beijing, Shanghai, or Guangzhou, and then take a domestic flight to Xichang.
Cities with direct domestic flights to Xichang Qingshan Airport include:
- Beijing
- Shanghai
- Guangzhou
- Shenzhen
- Chengdu
- Wuhan
- Xi’an
Xichangxi Railway Station(西昌西火车站)
If you fly into one of Chengdu’s international airports, instead of taking a direct domestic flight from Chengdu to Xichang, you could opt for a train from one of Chengdu's railway stations to Xichangxi Railway Station.
However, if you arrive in other cities, such as Beijing or Shanghai, traveling to Xichang by train is highly discouraged due to the considerable distance from those cities.
Train tickets can be purchased on the national rail website.
Tip: "Xichangxi" translates to "Xichang West."
2. Traveling to Qionghai Hotel (邛海宾馆)
There is no convenient public transportation from either Xichang Qingshan Airport or Xichangxi Railway Station to the Qionghai Hotel. We strongly recommend using either:
- Taxi: Taxis are readily available at both the airport and railway station. To assist the driver, you can print out the name of the hotel (邛海宾馆) and show it to them.
- Conference Shuttle: Regular conference shuttles will be available at both the airport and railway station. Details about schedules and pick-up locations will be shared closer to the event.
FROM AIRPORT TO HOTEL
Taxi: The ride to the hotel takes approximately 40minutes and costs about CNY 70 (USD 10)

FROM XICHANGXI RAILWAY STATION TO HOTEL
Taxi: The ride to the hotel takes approximately 35minutes and costs about CNY 55 (USD 8)
